2009 HEALTH DICTIONARY SERIES

Linguistic Docent Award

 

When you think of innovative health wordplay, linguistics, academic discourse or lexicology - an individual of outstanding vision, innovation, and support - that comes immediately to mind for 2009?

We hope you'll enable us to consider that person's creativity and contributions to the health encyclopedic industry. All it takes is a letter, fax, or email nomination with brief description, for our Second Annual HEALTH DICTIONARY SERIES™ Linguistic Docent Award™

NOMINEE REQUIREMENTS: Nominees must be a HEALTH DICTIONARY SERIES supporter and linguistic champion of all health terms; non-clinical. S/he must have displayed excellence and leadership in the wordy convergence of health policy and administration; economics and finance; managed care and insurance; technology and the entire healthcare industrial complex. This includes conceiving, writing, compiling, editing, implementing, promoting, or otherwise supporting the initiatives of our HEALTH DICTIONARY SERIES. All nomination must be forwarded to us by December 31, 2009. Complete contact information is required.

NOMINATION PROCESS: Nominations should include a short description (up to 250 words) of health linguistic accomplishments that make the nominee worthy of recognition. After nominations are received, they will be reviewed and evaluated by our judges and editorial team. Winners will be selected and may be featured on our website. Winners may also receive a complimentary Health Dictionary of choice, autographed by our Celebrity Editor(s) and various other academics. And, winner names may be acknowledged in an upcoming Health Dictionary Series edition for, posterity. All decisions of the judges remain final.

Finlandia University recently received a copy of the entire Comprehensive Health Dictionary Series for its School of Nursing. University President Robert Ubbelohde PhD, gratefully received the gifts from HDS Judges: Dr. David E. Marcinko MBA; Hope R. Hetico RN MHA, and Rachel Pentin-Maki, RN MHA; on behalf of the School.  All FU students were invited to contribute health definitions and non-clinical terms for future HDS editions ... and BLOG online!
